Hummeldoddies

I bet you don't know what Hummeldoddies are?!

My hands were freezing driving to work in the frosty mornings, so I decided to make a pair of Wendy's fingerless mitts. My partner took one look and exclaimed "Hummeldoddies!", which for those of you who don't come from a North East Scottish fishing village literally means: "Mittens without horns". I love that word!

The yarn is Noro Kureyon, colour 163, needles are Clover Bamboo 5mm and I am using the goddess from my bracelet as a stitchmarker. The image in the centre is by Snugbats and is a goth take on Little Red Riding Hood - this is my daughter's 10th birthday card! I am loving the Noro - despite it's occasional wholemeal-esque surprises: twigs mostly! I have never knit with a "not plied" yarn before and I could definitely get addicted.

Just one thumb to finish and then I am back to socks - it's nearly Christmas don't you know?!

And then there were two

I share an office with two other women and there was a time a while back when all three of us were pregnant...
But now there are two, and these are the little jumpers I have made for the babies.

From "Tadpoles and Tiddlers", this is Bobby, in Rowan True 4 Ply Botany (Ebay bargain!) taking less than two balls each. The buttons are recycled from an old camisole.

Pointy Dali Kitty

My daughter decided to make a Pointy Kitty for her BF's birthday. So mummy got the job of all the "boring" sewing and N designed the smile - don't tell her but we all think it looks like Salvador Dali's moustache!
