Elongated weekend

Monday was a local holiday for me but not my kids – tee hee hee!

I didn’t mention that I did some emotional spending during the week. I was having a bad day, and I surfed over to the YarnYard to discover two lovely sock yarns that called out to me. It was an impulse buy, but it was a GOOD buy, because the combined skeins are knitting up into a Chevron Scarf – the project which has been scratching away at the back of my brain with no suitable yarn in the stash.

Tuesday… Tuesday was the double hospital appointment extravaganza.
I am OK. Just a bit of gristle. Call me Griselda from now on. The implications of yesterday's tests didn't really hit me until I was waiting for my ultrasound, after a mammogram and a thorough kneading from three different doctors and nurses. What would we have done if the result had been different?! But I am fine. The stress-induced headache is fading.
First Love is not so fine. We got a fantastic doctor yesterday - one who knew his stuff and who knew how to explain it to patients. And most importantly who listened when I told him that FL has lost 4 stones in weight since May: 2 of those since he was last in hospital in August. Myeloma, it seems, does not cause dramatic weight loss like other cancers. So there is something else going on that needs urgent attention. So he has prescribed a whole new regime of anti sickness drugs and laxatives to try to get FL's body moving properly and hopefully allow him to absorb some nutrients from his food. We have a repeat appointment in 2 weeks - which is 2 weeks early, because the doctor is "concerned".

Hey - glad that you are ok. Thank good ness that you have a doctor who is getting the finger out - hopefully FL will stop feeling so awful and be able to keep some food down.
The yarn looks delicious - I shall have to stop looking. Being on a Yarn Diet and looking at great yarn is a bit like going into a sweet shop without my pocket money

Great news that you are ok. Glad you have found a doctor who knows his stuff. Loving the chevron scarf. I have started this about 3 times recently and not found the right colour combo...

Good news for your appointment, Gristle Girl! Hope the doctor sorts FL's weight loss out though... I bought some tencel merino from YY to send to someone in the US, but I sooooo want to keep it...

I love your chevron scarf. I am mid way through mine too! Hop you're taking it to hospital appointments, I find it so easy and quick to knit when I am waiting for my daughter to do various things!
