Back at the hospital with FL today.
Good news!
His x-ray had not been "reported", so the Consultant got her student to examine it. It showed that his spine is perhaps slightly more compressed than before, but it is in the same place, so just a bit more crumbling rather than a sign of new myeloma activity. There is perforation of his rib-cage, but again this is nothing new. His neck shows signs of "wear and tear" but that is not unusual for a man of his vintage.
His Freelite test result remains "steady". She didn't give us the numbers, which always makes me suspicious, but she said she was "very happy" with him. So I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt and accept her words at face value!
She offered him Gabapentin for his nerve pain, but he declined. He has weaned himself back off the Paracetamol in the past two weeks, so is on no pain-killers at all. I haven't blogged about this, because we were waiting for today's hospital appointment before we got too excited about his health looking up. But it is! He isn't getting "better", but he is definitely not getting worse, which is more than we could have hoped for. Yay! Party time!
So now we are going to plan a holiday. He says Greece. I say the Western Highlands. Watch this space!

Yipeee. :o)
yay! that is wonderful news!
If you've finished the tea dress you could have a tea party! Great news.
Gabapentin....I know everyone is different, and I am usually someone who says' take the painkillers', but I had some very, very bad experiences with this drug and it is definitely worth checking out the side-effects before taking it. Google 'agranulocytosis' and you'll get my drift.
Gabapentin:
Changed my life.... did you read my blog about it? Yes... you have to give it a week and follow the Pharmacist's instruction but I worked for me very well. ALL medications have side effects/ risks. You have to figure out if the benefit is worth the risk. Both Jenni and I think for Gabapentin the benefit far outweigh the risks. If you haven't read my blog about it.. it is a few blogs back from my current blog. Really glad for you about all the other great news you got! I vote for the highlands... sounds nice.
Oh such good news contained in this very upbeat post - talking of holidays and such like! (I wish) Still I did managed to get H to the sea at the weekend which was wonderful. I am so pleased that FL is doing well and that the MM is not showing anymore new activity. To not be taking any pain-killers is amazing - long may it last. It would be very hot in Greece but both places sound wonderful. x
yay!! good news, enjoy the holiday where ever you go!!
Such good news for first love. I have adored all the patterns you have shownm but did I miss what you had picked out for the wedding or is my chemo brain acting up?
