Hospital update - and more good news!

It was a toss-up between this happy holiday picture, or a scowling man trying on a suit for a wedding... no contest!
FL had his two-monthly hospital appointment this week.
The news is good: his Freelite test from May showed that his Myeloma is "steady"; his kidneys are "steady"; and a routine cholesterol check-up showed nothing unusual. The Consultant sent his blood off to Birmingham for another Freelite test, but she is very pleased with how things are going.
He remarked to me that he feels "back to normal" which is a weird and wonderful thing to say, three years into a Myeloma diagnosis! Of course, he is far from "normal", but the point is that his quality of life is very very good. He is back to full rounds of golf; he can trek up a steep hill for two hours; he can eat and drink what and when he likes; and he isn't taking any painkillers. Yeah, he sometimes stumbles when he walks due to loss of feeling in his feet, and the night cramps can be dreadful, and sometimes he is desperately tired... but it is all manageable.
More good news
My blog-shy son got the exam passes he needed to get into the University of his choice for the subject of his choice. Now we just have to sort out a job / student loan / accommodation - minor details! This is a huge relief in a year when Universities have over-recruited and are looking for reasons to reject students to avoid "claw-back" of government funding! The boy got his A. Wow!
And about comments
I haven't been deliberately ignoring your kind comments - for some reason Blogger didn't notify me that you had been here, so I didn't know to come and look! So thank you for all the sewing support, which is greatly appreciated. And yes - that is my herb garden in the pictures of Sencha. I went away for a week, and when I came back it was blooming - amazing!

Wow, this is all just terrific news to read. Congrats all around from across the pond! I'm fixing to walk a very hilly 9 hole course next week on "holiday" and I'm sure I'll be like a wet noodle afterward. FL is in better shape than I.

That's wonderful news, both about your son and of course FL. Funny to think that a little bit of FL is only 17 miles away from us!
I can only imagine getting back to "normal", the hospital appointments seem endless at times.
Your garden looks wonderful by the way.

What great news... Made my Friday. Have a great time at the wedding... I know you have worked hard to get ready. FL will just have to survive the suit. I love wearing suit to those kind of things! I'll be patient until I hear from you again!

Great news re FL - don't we all get tired? Two hours up a steep hill I'm impressed.

I was also wondering - Does he get good reception in that hat? ;D

Feresa - maybe that's what wrong with his hearing - too much interference!
