FL has received an appointment letter for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery outpatients clinic.

I am trying so hard not to read things into this! I must not jump to conclusions.
They have his x rays. They know his dentist made a mistake. They just want to make sure that everything is OK.
And that is all it means. That. Is. All. It. Means.

This sounds like a positive, fingers crossed. I don't know how easy it is to talk to the big cheese, but is there any way of contacting her to find out whether that's a reasonable length of time to wait? She did panic you, after all, so a short phone call to reassure wouldn't hurt. Also, if she thinks it's too long for FL to wait, she could perhaps wield some power to get him an earlier appointment. I hope this can be interpreted as good news though, I really do.
I do feel for you. We had a slightly similar situation last month when an appointment was issued for OH for the plastic surgery clinic. This was to do with a problem on his ear so visions were created of him losing part of his ear etc. The visions turned out to be totally overblown thank goodness. I just hope you are as fortunate.
That's so difficult. Perhaps you should assume that if there were cause for alarm the appointment would not be so far away. I think for the sake of your sanity you should stick with assuming the best. (Poor both of you!) I hope you can still enjoy sewing this weekend. Take care - C.
