Hospital update: My Crystal Ball Malfunctioned

Aw bless - The Boy is wearing hand-knitted socks!
CAUTION:  MEN AT WORK!

FL and The Boy are putting up the curtain rails.

This morning was FL's Haematology appointment.  I was dreading it because I was convinced he was in trouble.

Which just goes to show... I know nothing!

We saw the Italian Lady Doctor, who is always very kind and friendly.  She even offered to print out his "numbers" for me... but the printer was broken!

More Numbers than anyone could ever need:

Freelite results from Birmingham:  Kappa 193, Lamda 8.7, ratio 22.  This is basically "stable".

Full blood count:  OK
Haemoglobin: 126
Platelets: 189
White cells:  3.1  (normal range is 4 to 10, hence the GP's phone call the other day, but the Doctor reckons 3.1 is fine for someone on FL's drug regime)
Neutrophils:  1.4  (more than 1 is fine)
Kidney function:  NORMAL!
Creatinine:  100
Calcium: 2.1  (slightly low but this is a good thing in MM)

The Upshot:
29 rows in the Waiting Room
Revlimid:  continue on 25mg daily, three weeks on, one week off
Dexamethasone:  continue on 40mg once a week
Zometa? :  no way Jose, discontinued until further notice, due to Osteonecrosis of the jaw.

There was NO letter from the Dental man, but the Doctor had already decided the risk was too great to resume bisphosphonate treatment.

And what does all this mean?
Despite having an incurable cancer of the blood plasma and a dying jaw, FL is "otherwise fit and healthy" as the dental assistant put it so well!

Happy Christmas everyone!

HOORAY FOR GOOD NEWS!

(also, I think that should could for more than 29 rows, as that looks like 29 rows of gusset decreases and those are longer rows. And another thing: pretty sock!)

By the way, those shoes in your last post are STUNNING. Almost too over the top, but that's what makes them so great :oD
