Oh, but seriously Santa - couldn't you POSSIBLY....?!
Poetic License "Heidi's Dream" - my latest shoe obsession. So insane! I love them!
Sigh... unrequited as ever!
Moving on... it's my last day at work today. I should be in tomorrow, but FL has an appointment at Haematology, so I have marked myself "out of office".
What will tomorrow bring? I have just left a comment on someone else's blog that worrying does nobody any good, so I ought to listen to myself and go with the flow. But... he took a call from his GP yesterday saying that his blood tests of Tuesday were showing abnormal white cell counts and should they ring the hospital? He had no idea, but pointed out that the blood tests were done in preparation for Friday's appointment, so he might as well wait til then. The GP didn't disagree.
My memory is that the Consultant said they were watching his white cells and would take him off Revlimid and Dex if there was any trouble. But I had to Google it just now to make any sense of what might be going on. Ah, Dr Google we love you so!
"Neutropenia (noo-tro-PEE-nee-yuh): a reduced number of white blood cells called neutrophils
This is a common type of cytopenia experienced by people who are taking REVLIMID®. With neutropenia, you may have a reduced ability to fight infections."
I think this might mean they will have to give him a couple of bags of blood tomorrow. New blood for Christmas - lucky man!
Looking into my crystal ball, I predict that they will definitely take him off Dexies, possibly take him off Revlimid and definitely keep him off Zometa (the jaw issue).
We are expecting the results of his Freelite test from Birmingham too. That should swing it one way or the other for Revlimid.
Revlimid... "the drug of last resort". Sigh. See you tomorrow for another thrilling update!

I have everything crossed for you.
I didn't comment on your last health update because I really didn't know what to say. Sending positive and calming thoughts and hoping for the best for tomorrow.
Sending oodles and bundles of positive thoughts to the both of you x
All I can say is I'm thinking of you both. Stay positive. xx
It's so hard not to worry, even for someone like yourself who seems to be a genius at getting through tough situations with a smile on your face. I'm sending lots of good thoughts your way, and will look out for your update.
Keep knitting! And keep warm.
Roo,
It's most definitely the Rev making him neutrapenic, plus his mouth issues may be using up them white cells too. They normally don't transfuse for that, they may give a neupogen shot or just stop the Rev for a spell. They would give blood if he was super anemic.
The fact that he is on antibiotics for his mouth gives him a little protection if his whites are too low. Who told you that Rev. was the drug of last resort? 'Round here, it is one of the top 2 used and there are many other, more toxic drugs, that are given when others don't work. Good luck tomorrow. Hope the news gives you some peace of mind.
Oh and THOSE SHOES are unbelievable!! Perfect for Christmas though the only thing I own that would "go" with them is a red lingere get-up. ;o)
Denise - thank you for that vision!
Maybe things have changed, but when they put FL on Rev they said it was the last "approved" drug. There are various ongoing UK drug trials but he is too old or lives in the wrong place for those I have investigated. We'll see!
PLEASE just go and buy those shoes NOW - it will prepare you for your next gruelling appointment. The very best of luck tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you. And I really hope you all have a happy and restful Christmas. xx
I agree with Jane, just buy the bloody shoes - you deserve them - go, girl!
I just have to say: those are unbelievably fantastic shoes. The fur and the embroidery strip. oh wow.
Good luck to you all.
Fabulous Shoes! How high are they? I love them!
Best of wishes for tomorrow! I am praying that things will not be so bad. Doesn't it make you mad when "authorities" give judgments such as "he (you) are too old" for a procedure?
Does FL come from a family of long livers -= oops, I think I mean they live to be older than most - like way up in their 80s or 90s. In my family the women, especially, generally live longer than most. I tend to
think "What do you mean - someone my age? what is my age?"
I wish the very best results tomorrow
LINDA
Good luck today. I will cross toes and fingers for good results.
AND those shoes are fab. x
