Thank you everyone for your concern about FL and his foul mouth.
He went to the GP yesterday, a miracle in itself, and proof that he must be in a lot of pain.
The Doctor examined him, consulted the internet, and has prescribed monster doses of antibiotics plus a once-a-week anti-yeast pill. FL reports that the doctor found ulcers running right along his gums, and that he took a swab plus blood tests. He didn't tell his GP he has a jaw-man appointment on Friday. Hopefully there is a note on his file. FL didn't ask what they were checking his blood for, so I hope it includes a white cell count. I suspect they will have to take him off Revlimid and Dexamethazone again as the drugs are battering his immune system too hard. He is due to take his Dexies tomorrow. I do not fancy dealing with FL on Dexies when he is already feeling mighty sorry for himself (justifiably).
He is also on strict instructions to stay far far away from alcohol. This is not going down well, especially in the run up to Christmas. He had two coffees at the pub yesterday and was not amused. It is hard when all your pals are "drinkers". Because he is also exhausted, he can't golf, so the bar is the only place to meet his friends and their automatic reaction to a sick friend is to offer him a whisky!
I had to whizz his dinner up in the food processor last night because he can't chew. Luckily it was a blender-friendly meal. I will have to make sure I cook soft food for a while. Risotto tonight - that should puree down nicely!
Roll on Friday.

Hugs to you both. I hope the anti-biotics clear up the ulcers.
Also, mashed potato! You could mix in all sorts of tasty things with it to keep it interesting :)

Poor FL, poor you. Sounds a hideous combination of pains and stresses. Not surprised he feels sorry for himself. Hope the drugs kick in quickly and give some relief. xx
How sore poor FL's mouth must be! I sincerely hope the meds kick in quickly and the jaw man is able to put your minds at rest. I can heartily recommend pureed frozen watermelon as a food for very sore mouths. Ok not the best in midwinter, but so very soothing :D
oh no!! I hope his gums get better soon so that he can at least have one dram for christmas! Sending all my best thoughts your way!!
Rissotto sounds like it might not need blitzing.
Hope he feels better soon.
egads, roo, it must be so painful for both FL and you. but perhaps the antibots will kick in quickly. so sorry you and FL are going through such a difficult and scary time. i know friday cannot come fast enough. will keep you both close to my heart and hope, hope all will turn out okay.
warm hugs, karen
Good luck for FL's appointment today. Everything crossed for you.
