Actually... that's not such a bad idea! ; )
Another eebaay windfall. Somewhat more modest. And I didn't even have to bid for it. £7.99 for 6 vintage patterns. Even if I only make one of them, it will be cheaper than buying it from the US.
Simplicity 7457 is the one that tipped the balance.
I saw it only yesterday on another blog and may have hyperventilated slightly.

Infinitely adaptable.
The black and white one looks a lot like a Sorbetto, but I have my eye on the yellow roses.
Dagnabbit - I shall make it up in yellow pansy fabric!

Listen, I am feeling a bit stressed. This is cheaper than making an appointment with a therapist.
And I get a new blouse out of it.

I think I have to stage an intervention at this point. Right that's it woman...I FORBID YOU!! No more pattern buying. Now sew something!!
I am going to be your enabler and say - you're buying some great patterns! Sod it, what's £7.99 between friends?
I would have paid £7.99 alone just for the cute blouse pattern, but you also got some other gems with it! Lovely!
Ooooh, that top is very cute, I can see why you went for it. I'm thinking I should clear out my own pattern stash as there are some I know I'll never make.
(might have to look for that top on ebay tho...)
What a great buy! I have to confess to doing the same with vintage knitting patterns. Luckily I haven't started in on the sewing patterns . . . yet.
The blouse is adorable!
I went through a real phase of buying vintage patterns, after buying about 30 I got all het up because I was worried that I wouldn't make them all. Then I had a "Eureka!" moment: it's ok if they are just nice to look at, as they inspire me then too. Ahh, all is calm...for the meantime! So enjoy your hobby - it's not hurting anyone is it? ;-)
I totally agree with Rachel in E'burgh. It is such fun to look at and create plans and stories. I mean, look at the wonderful life story you created! And really they don't take up that much room--but keep them dry!
Love the pansy fabric - it'll look perfect made up in that pattern. You could spend the same amount on a stress relieving bottle of wine but you'd have nothing to show for it. If you decide you have too many patterns, you can always sell them on!
Released as many endorphins for you as falling in love, with fewer unwanted consequences. You have nothing for which to apologize! You are allowed to have joy in your life! Not your fault if your joys -- and mine, and the rest of your commenters -- are considered a wee bit odd to most of modern society. You are among friends.
sweet blouse - super sweet fabric! springtime in sight!
you do right with this pattern-buy. i often sew to calm my nervs - it´s so "zen" :-)
I love the yellow pansy print! I think that will make a super sweet top. What would you pair it with? Some tweed maybe?
I think you're doing fine on the pattern front, but then I woke up one morning and realised I had about 1000 of them and actually did have to open a shop, so... I might not be the best judge.
That said, having an etsy shop is great. It lets you buy more things on etsy :p
You go girl, I'm with Karen, what's £7.99 between friends?! Please open an Etsy shop, then I can buy all your rejects! x
Brilliant deal...I'm not even going to tell you how much I just bought ONE pattern for...teeheee...but this is a GREAT deal and such fabulous designs!
I say £7.99 is a great price, and really there could be *far* more harmful and expensive addictions.
Re. stress relief, I fondly remember an old lady from Virginia who said (imagine Southern accent): "People ask me how can I afford to knit, and I tell them, 'By the hour, it's cheaper than psy-cho-therapy.'"
Keep falling in love with patterns, I say! Just enjoy.
Swoon! How do you find then? Any bumper loads of patterns I spy on ebay don't have this many beauties in them. That top right pattern looks very tasty too....
So think of this as fate. They belong with you...
I agree that £7.99 doesn't seem too much for a great selection of patterns. I am loving the yellow floral blouse pattern. Vintage pattern buying is much cheaper than therapy.
I'd have bought it, and I've not sewed an item of clothing in years. Why stop, you're clearly on a roll!
I like! the green/white dress in the top right looks cute too. nice bargain!
What fun would it be if we stopped you? :D
Yay! The patterns arrived on Saturday and I am pretty sure I will sew at least three of them, so it was definitely a good buy. :)
